im in the process of upgrading my tank and have been sent the wrong sized plumbing by the supplier, however already solvent welded some of it together so now don't know what to do.

I'm using 2" drains all around, but they sent me 1.5" hosetails without me realising, so the 2" flexi Pipe obviously doesn't fit. I have already welded them on to the filters etc so is not possible to remove them without replacing all the plumbing completely and new uni seals etc etc.

I see my options as either:

1. Complain and get money back, then use money to buy new 1.5" plumbing and use this instead. However will this be enough to drain approx 10000lph (Gravity, not pressured)

2. Complain again, and get them to give me reducers/couplers to increase size from the welded1.5 adaptor to the 2" pipe and use 2" pipe.

What does you guys reckon? The first would definitely be a lot easier, however is whether it could cope with the flow?

But with the second the pipe would still be restricted to 1,5" so is it just best doing the first?

For me, it depends on the size of the tank. I have three 1.5" lines on my 220, two which I use herbie style with half closed ball valves, and the third is a dry fully open e-drain.

I also use a Rio 20HF and 50ft roll of 1" tubing to pump water out for water changes.

What size is your tank?

The tank is 400gal which then goes into a 200 gal then to filters.has two 2" drains.

The issue is the main drain which takes 90% of the flow is now reduced to 1.5".

Will a 1.5" pipe take 10000 lph do you know?

My return is only 32mm, however this is obviously pressurised whereas drain is not.

Thanks all.

My Lfs were able to provide me with adaptors to convert the solvent welded fittings to the correct 2" pipe so is all sorted.
