I am in the last stages of plumbing my tanks. My filter sits in between 2, 450 gallon tanks. The bio tower is towards the wall, so the bulkhead for the pump will be on the front of the filter. Here is my question. I'd like to have the pump in back of the filter. Can I run my intake from the front of the filter to the back where the pump is? Is it a no no to have an intake pipe 5' long off the sump before it reaches the pump? I don't see any problem with it but want advice from some experience people.

I don't want to turn the wet/dry around for ease of pulling the drip tray out for maintenance and don't want the pump sticking out in the walkway out front. Thanks,

You should use 2" bulkhead on the sump and 2" PVC and you will not have a problem.
Do not reduce the size until right when it enters the pump.

Sounds about right. By using over sized PVC the friction loss will be less.
Try to keep the vertical distance on the intake side as short as possible as most pumps suck at sucking.

There will be no vertical on the intake side. It would be level all the way to the back. I already have it plumbed 2" coming out of the sump. Thanks. Keep more replies coming.

this question can really best be answered by knowing the size ( gpm) and type of pump you will be using.....

but as other have guessed 2" SOUNDS OK better to use flex pvc with large radi bends than fittings.... but with a pump 50gpm or smaller even with fittings it sounds like you will be safe.
