Plumbing one monster tank to another, possible?

Okay guys, think it's doable?

Currently running--

Tank size (lxwxh): 5ftx3ftx2ft
190gal water in 225gal tank with flowrate @ 4': 1350gph/7X turnover/hr

Livestock/Stocklist:
2xCuban gar, 2xFlorida gar, African arowana
To be added/removed: +2xTropical gar, -1xFlorida gar

Feeding: very light, usually 2 times/week, every other day for the African aro

filter media: 25kg ceremic rings, 3kg biohome
sump size: 4ftx1.5ftx1.5ft
sump gallonage (70% full): 50gals

Adding--

Tank size (lxwxh): 4.5ftx2.5ftx2ft
150gal water in 170gal tank with flowrate @ 1': 1290gph/8.5X turnover/hr

Livestock/Stocklist: 3xEndlicheri, Congicus, 2xLaparadie, Palmas
To be added/removed: +3-5Peacock bass, Armatus, GATF

Feeding: very light, usually 2 times/week

filter media: +17kg biohome

other comments: tank is to be heavily planted

Summary--

340gal water with flowrate: 2640gph/7.7X turnover/hr

Livestock/Stocklist: 2xCuban gar, 2xFlorida gar, African arowana, 3xEndlicheri, Congicus, 2xLaparadie, Palmas
To be added/removed: +2xTropical gar, -1xFlorida gar, +3-5Peacock bass, Armatus, GATF

you are not leaving yourself a whole lot of room in the sump if/when you lose power.. but yeah theres no reason that its not possiable..

cleaning the top tank also looks like its going to be a real pain..
 
As long as you can keep the sump from overflowing during a power outage there should be no problem filtering them off of the same sump. Just be sure to add ball valves to the lower tank return lines so it doesn't starve the tank on the upper level.

or just use a seperate pump. looks doable for sure, just watch the overflow on power loss as stated couple times already.
 
That would be ok but just to warn you ahead of time. i have did that to a 20 gallon and 75 gallon. The jardini that was in the 20 gallon grow out tank have got ick and the pump had cazrry it to the 75 getting all my fish sick. Cool idea.
 
Should be easy enough. But I do have to throw another vote in there about watching the levels in you sump. You wouldn't want that thing to overflow.
