so I recently released my 300g. To do this we removed the RR corner overflows. I hat them and am not putting them back in. The tank is drilled with 4 one inch holes. I have the tank setup that all four are used to drain the tank. I used bushing to go from one inch to one and half pvc. I am using the cone shaped strainers ontop. Is there a way to determine how high the water level will be from the base of the strainer? The pump I am using allows me to adjust flow and I can go anywhere from a 5x to 10x turnover. I am having a really hard time determining the length of the drain pumps and really don't want to have to adjust them once setup.

Thank you

There's way too many variables to say how high or low the water level may be on the strainers. There are calculations for weirs, but they get pretty complex because you must calculate the open area vs closed area of the strainer. I think the pinch point in your setup will be the 1" bushing, and the flow through here will vary depending on the column height of water in the 1.5" pipe. I really think the best approach is to test it without making permenant connections.

My 180 had 2 one inch holes drilled for flow to the sump, and my 1500 gph pump was a little too much at full force.
I added a PVC overflow to take up the slack.
As long as any of the over flows aren't plugged (even partially) with plant matter of other debris, that pump works well fully open, I aim for 10x per hour turnover.
