Hello All,

I have been searching the plywood builds and I was looking for an example of someone who has done one with viewing on opposite sides.

Most plywood builds have either on side viewing or corner viewing.

I want to build a plywood tank 8X3X3 but I would like to having viewing windows on opposite sides (on the 8' sides).

If anyone could point me in the right direction to find a thread on this that would be great.

I am looking for information on structure/bracing for this type of build and type/thickness of glass or acrylic.

Thanks in advance!

I haven't seen any threads on this but It's definitely possible. I think the reason it happens infrequently is that for the majority of us Plywood is usually the "cheaper" method to build. I currently building a 310 Gallon Tank and I simply couldn't afford the second pane of glass. I can buy my pumps and heater instead. The main things to consider, in my point of view, is to ensure the top has enough bracing to keep the tank secure and not allow it to bow then blowout. If you have the resources DO IT... oh... and THREAD IT!! LOL.. I want to see that build!

I think another factor is that the main way that attachment is done is by having ~2" overlap where the glass is siliconed on the inside to the sealed wood. Most people wouldn't want to see that ugly border that would be on the inside of their tank. Obviously that could be avoided by having an inner frame for the glass, but as BDK pointed out, the cost of the extra glass is another major issue.

PS You're probably looking at 3/4" thick glass for this build.

I think that you can use any of he succesfull builds as an example of the bracing you will need probably 2x6 framing. I dont see why just doing the two windows like they have done their one shouldnt work for you. (Mabey bracing the two pieces agianst one another without scratching them if they are accrylic)
