hey guys ive been reading up on the diy plywood tank and i have a couple questions..ok should i fiberglass the inside or should i use a pond liner? my other question is what is a good filtration system for a tank this size? (by the way someone please explain a sump to me i dont understand it) :headshake

Fiberglass if your handy with it...but seriously use the search feature and look up a Sump... but if you don't know what it is then I suggest you study up before trying to build a tank on your own... not that I won't watch with total delight...

If it's constructed solidly (no flex) 'glass is good, if your unsure , a liner is very forgiving and you don't have to paint it.

Filter size...

Rule of thumb ... 1/4 to 1/3 of original tank, depending on bio-load.

1/4 of 450g = 110g

1/3 of 450g = 150g

People have had success with smaller, but other factors come into play (special media, higher maintenance, etc).

If after a search thru past threads you still don't feel you have a good grasp on sumps and filters in general ask again.
