Plywood tank cost?

Howdy folks

I've been considering getting another tank and my lfs has a 180gal (72x24x24) plywood tank for $500. I was wondering if this is a good price for a plywood tank. I'm not sure the thickness of the glass in it but the viewing window takes up most of the viewing side of the tank (less 2-3" around the window).

I've thought about making my own but haven't gotten around to pricing out how much it would cost to make my own. I'm in Canada if that means anything in regards to the price of a plywood tank.

well you gtta check how much ply wood will cost you ... glass sealent i think you could make 1 that size for 300 but not sure if its too accurate

You can build your own for less then $500. For a tank that size you are talking 3/4" plywood for the tank glued and screwed, glass, and something to seal the tank like an epoxy or liquid rubber.

Depends is it just the tank or is a tank, stand, lid, light, filters.
because a new glass 180 would cost about the same but that is just the tank.

I built my 180, just the tank itself (pond liner) for $100. The expensive part comes with finishing and viewing window.

I built mine for a bare $500 including stand and custom filter. Now the finish work cost me another $300. But I have a one of a kind tank.

The tank I considered buying is really plain, so I think I'll take the advise of you folk and build my own tank. Thanks folks!
