ok so im trying to talk my dad into helping me build a plywood tank since he has all the right tools and whatnot. he told me he doesnt feel comfortable building one because he feels it wont last at all.he thinks its just asking for problems.do plywood tanks actually last? i know it varies on the quality of work but just overall, is it really just asking for something bad to happen like leaks, etc?

No doubt there are hundreds of thousands of gallons of water being held around the world by plywood tanks over ten years old. In some cases over 30 years old.

But on the other hand, there probably has been a lot of water spilled in short order by poorly built plywood tanks. Of course that also holds true with DIY glass tanks and even more so with people who buy cheap used glass tanks and rush the resealing process. They leak too.

Point being execution is what matters.

^^ Agreed... Craftsmanship if key to success in anything build. Look at houses over 100 years old.
