i am looking to build a 240 gallon plywood tank. the demensions will be 72"x24"x31". how thick should the wood be? what thickness of glass do i need? a very safe thickness please i have a 2 year old daughter roaming my home. also, what type of paint would you use for the inside of the tank? my father, who has been breeding discus forever, suggested a resin called PondArmor. i plan on fiberglassing the whole tank so that wouldn't work for me. any input greatly appreciated, thanks

There are several thread in the DIY sticky involving builds, you might want to read through those if you havn't already. As far as plywood thickness goes, 3/4 is the minimum with all edges glued and screwed every 3-4". As far as glass, go with 1/2" plate glass. Now, all this is assuming you are not going to using an external frame. IF you are going to frame the tank first, you can use thinner plywood. I'm not going to offer any input on painting fiberglass, fiberglass seems like a lot of work and I think there are better products available. I'm a liquid rubber fan.
