My new rd are either very picky eaters or I'm just not offerring the right stuff. I've tried hamburg, both fried and raw, floating pellets, flakes, and feeders. I need suggestions as this is my first attempt at raising a fh. What can I feed them to inhance kok size and overall color?

You want to be sure to feed them a variety of things, its always good to give it a diversified diet!
Mix up different foods, I'd highly suggest A-Life if you are on a budget.
Use ChingMix or Grand Sumo if you are looking to boost its color and kok size.
Worms, occasional live feeders, etc.
Always make sure your heater is properly working so your FH doesn't get sick!!

keep an eye for stringy white poo. Its normal that they don't eat when they are adjusting, so might just be that. If you see white strigy poo that just hangs there, it could be hex. Keep an eye on him, but don't worry yet. I have had FH that don't eat for 3 weeks after introducing them to a new tank. They can go 1 month or more without eating so no need to worry just yet.

don't feed your fish hamburger. if your fish haven't been in our tank very long, they may just be getting acclimated. feeders can spread disease to your fish. just skip feeding for a day or two then try feeding them some bloodworms. watch them for the feces problems already described. another thing to watch for, if they are in the same tank, is aggression. i bought two siblings and put them in the same tank. they were small, about 2 inches. i had a male and a female. the female was growing like crazy and the male was hiding alot and not coming out to eat. she was kicking his butt when ever he came out. she grew about an inch while they were together. he didn't grow at all. as soon as i removed her, he put on an inch in about two weeks. it has been two months since i separated them now and he is about 5 inches long.

dude get some bloodworms, hai feng, hikari bio-gold, red worms, chingmix.

Thanks for the info, it has all been very helpfull for taking the first step in fh raising. They have both begun to eat I'm feeding them hikari cichlid gold and they love it. the temp is a constant 80-82 degrees, and I'm doing 25% wc every 3 days. The f has dark bars showing her breeding colors, and appears to be preggo...my fingers are crossed. any post breeding advice would be greatly appreciated. I have to take some new pics tonight and I will have them on tomorrow.
