Thanks evryone,I understand now.It was just a thought,I have a bunch of pvc and some down time,ya know how it goes.My main tank is 90 gals and the sump tank is 55 gals.Ornatapinnis, let me know about the extra boxes and thanks again for all of the input, evryone

You can make that design work by attaching a small line to the upper "u" in the design which then runs down to a suction port on the pump in the sump. This provides a constant automatic priming effect. This is the way the CPR brand overflows are designed.

I3u11he4d..it is possible..but with some tweaKING TO the design u posted above...i am using a PVC-constructed overflow..later i'll take some pics and post..been working without a hitch for more than 1 yr...

u can retain the part of your design which is inside the tank..the part which is outside will need the additional piping and joint with the cap shown in the pic above..to prime, juz remove cap and suck hard..water will flow into the pipes and stay the level where the blue tap valve is...never once lose its prime.. :)

Great thread guys. I have to admit i am a DIY dummy. Wet Drys are an easy DIY but overflows are a different story. But i am getting some cool ideas here nonetheless.
