I have just pick up a 65 from some one and it looks like someone has taken some sandpaper to the front is there anyway to polish lots of fine scratches out of glass. Cant even change the panel as it is a bow front.
The lights were not one when i collected it so did not see the full extent of the problem.Any help would be appreciated.

That's simply not true. You can absolutely polish out minor scratches from glass. Now, if it's a gouge, you might be screwed. But minor scratches can be polished out fairly easily.

You can go to a hobby store (most anyhow) and buy a micro-mesh polishing kit kind of like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Micro-Mesh-Model-Polishing-Kit/dp/B000X4J4G4

Then get a buffing wheel attachment for a drill and some buffing compound like chromium oxide and you should be set.

A scratch worth noticing (one that you can feel with your nail) is not going to come out. You simply cannot remove enough surrounding glass to level out with the scratch. Now if it were acrylic, it'd be easy.

OK, after doing some reasearch it seems it may be possible to get it looking far better than it looks now.I have just got to get the supplies, various grades of wet and dry 1500 grit-9000 grit and some cerium oxide polishing compound, together that I need and then I will have a go as i have nothing to loose as I cant live with it like it is now. When I have the stuff together I will take some pictures of how bad it is and detail the process I am going to use and we will see how it turns out.
