I have a 240 gallon tank, with a Pro Clear Aquatics wet.dry rated for 300 gallon tanks, which should be plenty of biological filtration. Its also going to take me awhile before I have this tank fully stocked, but when the time comes that I do, what other filter could I get to help polish the water? I dont need it bottled water clear, so what a big canister work with the correct media? Or any other ideas?

240, nice....I, too, am going with a Pro Aquatics wet/dry....For mechanical filtration though, I have two AC500's pumping....

Well yeah I guess you could say I have lots of Mechanical and biological with my wet/dry. Mechanical being the prefilters on the overflow box, filter pad about bio-balls and another sponge before the pump. Biological on all the the sponges, but most of it is done with the bio-balls.

There's no such thing as too much filtration bra....I stick power filters on every tank tank of mine, regardless if there is a canister or wet/dry already on it...

I have a 180 with a wet dry set up. I run a Magnum 350 on it, with the micron filter in it. It keeps the water crystal clear, even when you look through the tank from end to end. I have to change the micron filter about twice a month, but my fish are pritty messy. I keep about three elements on hand and clean them like the instructions say, you can use them over and over. I just rinse them in a bucket of water with alot of water conditioner after cleaning to make sure there is no bleach left.

don't forget to get Purigen!

Definitely get Purigen if you love crystal clear water.

I've used micron pads and micron pads plus Purigen after the pre filter in wet drys with good results. If you use them after the pre filter, they don't foul up as quickly with the larger particles.
