Does anyone think it is somewhat hypocritical to run political ads on a forum that has banned the discussion of politics?

Sorry to be such a s**t-stirrer, but this really seems wrong. Fat-belly girl is bad, but this is ridiculous...

Ignore them

Do you just mean "Don't pay attention to them" or is there some way to set it so the banner ads disappear?

Ya don't use MFK, or most any other sites that are provided free on the internet for your use.

If it helps pay the bills to keep this site running, then who cares.

The banners come from a google-ad generator. This site has no control over what ads can pass or not. The boss is looking into whether or not he can select which ads can run and/or if there is any type of filtering that may be employed.

Thank you very much, that's what I was wondering - how the ads are selected.

It would be nice if they could somehow filter the ads so that they were in alignment with the MFK TOS; no ads for alcohol, none with sexual content, no politics/religion, et cetera.

Thanks again, and you might just want to close this before it gets ugly... ;)

Thanks I'm going to tweak the setting today. Its almost 5 year since the start of the MFK revolution. Who would have thought that one has to gave up a 600 gallon tank per month to keep this site up ... :WHOA:
MFK > TANK :headbang2

I didn't mean to seem ungrateful for MFK and all the time and money Neo puts into this site. Getting on MFK is one of the things I truly enjoy doing on a daily basis.

That's why it made me feel bad to see what I considered a very offensive political ad on the banner. If it was a site that I didn't care about it probably wouldn't have bothered me at all.

This website is a place that welcomes all people and the mods do a very good job of ensuring that the forum content is kept appropriate for people of all ages, races, genders, political affiliations, nationalities, et cetera. That's why it was so surprising to find that ad.

I do understand that this problem is by no means unique to MFK. At my school we have a list of approved web sites kids can visit at lunch. We are constantly having to remove otherwise totally appropriate sites from the list because of the content of their advertising.

It does make me feel better to know that the ads aren't selected specifically by the MFK administration. I would hate to think that people of my political affiliation were somehow less welcome on the forum!
