tank is 65 gallons (sufficient for an oscar) but its a 65 tall (3ft long x 2ft high x 18" deep) could an oscar live in here for life alone? posting out of curiosity because i know the tank isnt that long.
 
He won't appreciate the height so much, you might as well put one in a 40 breeder.

So yes, in theory you could, and it's probably better than what most people do who buy them ignorantly at the petstore, but if you care enough to be on here asking, then you should probably do better for your fish.
 
Ya it could. Comparable to a silver in a 180 imo. Doable but not really ethical

I agree, about the comparison part, but not the doable part. You might be able to keep the fish alive in there for years, but it is bordering on inhumane IMO.

Fish need room to move, if you're having to ask if the tank will be big enough then it probably won't be...
