125 dimensions (72Lx19Wx24H).... filtration is not an issue (XP3, 2X AC110, wet/dry rated for 180g)

I was thinking something like...
1X Lapradei
2X weeksii
2X delhezi
2X senegalus
1x ropefish
1X ornatipinnis
1X pleco sp.

I guess my questions are....

1) Too much? (I hear bichirs are harder to overstock than most, so I upped the numbers a bit)

2) compatibility issues?

3) will the Lap/ornate be OK in a 19"W tank?

a little advice is to cancel that pleco, otherwise your above stocks should be fine, as long as filtration is no problem like you mentioned it. My tank used to be like that prevously, I had 120g with 3 endlis, 3 sens, 1 lap, 2 congi, 3 longfinned, and 3 ornates, but now they are moved into 200g with several tinfoil bards. Some of us still overstocking our tank because bichirs are addictive.
Depending on the size of your lap n ornate, but I would go wider than 19'', see below info,

Tank size
Bichirs do not need a great deal of water depth in their tanks 8 to 12 inches is actually
sufficient for any of the species. The minimum tank size for a single small species of
bichir is a tank with a footprint of 36''x12''x16'' your standard 30 gallon tank.however
bigger is almost always better so if you're looking to primaraly house bichrs listed below are
some tank sizes to consider for the smaller species.
30 gallon 36''x12''x16'' (this is the minimum size for 1 smaller species bichir)
30 gallon Breeder 36x18x12''
33 gallon Long 48x13x12
40 Gallon Breeder 36x18x16
40 gallon Long 48x13x16
50 Gallon 36x18x18
75 Gallon 48x18x20
125 Gallon 72x18x22*See note
150 Gallon 72x18x28 *See note
for the bigger species
120 Gallon 48x24x24
180 Gallon 72x24x24
The above are fairly standard sized tanks and should be available thru your local stores
*note The difference here is in the depth of the tank 6'' unless you feel the need for the
extra depth the 125 is the better/cheaper choice.

i would do something more like
7 delhezi
7 senegal
3 albino sens
3 ornats
no pleco

could you really house an ornate, let alone a lap for life in a 125. Doesn't an ornate get to like 24", which is longer than his tank is wide?

ornates can grow to 24"+ but are obviously quite flexible so i would advise a width of 24".

also i wouldnt go with too many ornates as in my experience they are bullies. check out some of the horror stories on here! if you can try and make the ornate the smallest of the lot to start with...
just my ten pence worth

I doubt it if any ornates being kept nowadays would ever grow up to 24" in a home tank.

I'd probably leave out the ornate & lap as well based on the width of the tank. I'd stick with senegals, delhezi, palmas complex, retro/moke, and maybe a weeksi or teugelsi. Thats still plenty of interesting bichirs which would probably be better suited to life in a 125.

The ornate and Lap can be there for years. Sounds like a very nice setup.
