If you were sanding down and resealing the floors on two rooms of your house, would just go through and put carbon in all the fish tanks out of principle?

Both rooms have be "isolated" with vapor barriers and exhaust fans set up. But something is telling me that carbon is cheap, just do it!i

Whoever does the floors needs to use good ventialtion anyway - for their own health's sake.

But also they could add accelerator to the clear coat. It will make it harden faster AND will make the smell (solvents) disappear faster.

Noone can tell you how the floor job will affect your fish or anything for that matter. Depends on what product is used. I personally would not take any chances.

For all it's worth - to get rid of the lingerins smell buy a bag of the cheapest coffee you can get. Spread it over newspaper in the room that you want to get rid of any smells (not just solvents).
