I know they aren't catfish, but there aren't any other bottom dweller catagories this species fits into.

I was curious what experience people have had with them. Are they truly a freshwater species?

Thanks

Although I have no experience with the species I can recall being tempted to order one before reading that they tend to be delicate and don't ship well.I have never seen one for sale in a shop.

I unsuccessfully tried to keep a polynemus paradiseus many years ago. Only lived for a a couple of weeks in my tank. My understanding is they are pretty sensitive and don’t generally don’t ship well.

It was a very cool fish for the brief time I had it - swam all over the place non-stop but in a slightly manic fashion (a bit like a young pictus cat).

I think aquilionaris is a true FW species, whereas paradiseus is brackish, but the importer IDs on polynemus are often not very accurate so it can be hard to know exactly what you’re getting.
