I have this tall stump looking thing i got from petsmart thats in my tank and the fish seem to like it but my little 6inch ornate hangs out in it all the time. I even blocked off the holes with plants but it still finds its way through. The question is, should i remove it someday when i think hes getting big enough to worry about him getting permanetly stuck in there?

Remove it and let him kick it in the plants.

LOL... I am certain I know which log you are talking about, My BF has it too, and his Ornate did the SAME thing. We managed to plug the holes well enough that he cannot get in them now, but it was a pain for a while! good luck. :)

Are you sure this is a problem? I have a fake driftwood piece that I'm amazed my teugelsi is still able to squeeze into... never seems to have a problem wriggling his way out though. Has anyone actually had a bichir squirm into something that they couldn't get out of?

My first poly got stuck in a PVC/rock cave thing I built for him. I got him out before it was too late, but nothing except driftwood and plants has been in my tanks since.

I guess that's my point... I know that I've definitely been concerned about my polys getting stuck in their driftwood, and I once had a heck of a time getting one out when I had to move him, but has anyone actually lost a poly to getting stuck? I'm not saying it doesn't happen, just wondering if it has happened to anyone here.

i had a large senegal get stuck in a log. i had to use plyrs to get him out. he did die:(
