Well, a few of my geophagus have been attacked by my ornate bichirs so I am now forced to rethink all of my set-ups. would it be possible to house them in a 4" X 2' tank for the next couple years? I have a 13" Palmas, 9" Ornatipinnis, and 7" ornatipinnis.

think its possible not sure about ornate

I love cranky ornates :D

Sorry to hear that's not something you were in for with them. An ornate will be fine in a 4'x2'. I don't know if it'll leave the smaller bichirs alone though.

If it was so aggro that it attacked your geo's , my guess is that it'll attack smaller bichirs too.

put the palmas in with the snuffleupagus and the ornates in their on thier own

Do you think there are any other possible tankmates that could be housed with them? Preferably top or middle dwellers. Or is it too much to risk?

Tiger datnoids, large mild tempered to mellow CA/SA cichlids, Osphronemus, any large peaceful to semi-aggressive fish would do well with ornates.
