Both are known to be retiring and succumb readily to confrontation, right? I know about jade 'gobies' but know little about polys. I'm about to inherit a p. senegal and a p. p. buttikoferi (gold dust bichir). The gold dust is about six inches, the senegal is about four (I think he said four) inches, and the jade goby is also about four inches. With good cavework in a 75 gallon with lots of plants, is there a pretty good chance of them all getting along?

I've never had an issue with the combination.

:) That's good news so far. So, not a huge risk of the jade trying to eat a poly? He'll be well-fed, for sure. He just never knows when to stop eating, that's all.

Acclimating the bichirs now. I read that they are omnivores that need some fiber for roughage and also need a lot of calcium, which can be obtained through frozen fish pieces. I am wondering if baby mollies will also provide a goodly amount of calcium. I take it tadpoles don't release the toxins their adult counterparts do? Also, I read they can be prone to constipation, but the guy I just got them from has them on massivore. Is this an okay staple for polys? Any additional info is appreciated, I've read the stickies and am a total bichir noob. The two are going into a heavily planted tank with lots of cover. Total stock of the (75 gallon) tank is:
Two amblydoras nauticus
Two hoplosternum littorale
A breeding group of mollies
Some snails (not for long, I suspect!)
Mostly, it's water lettuce on almost 1/2 the tank's surface. I knock it back to 1/4 every water change and let it get to the middle before thinning it out. The powerhead DIY filter I made has the airline bubbler hooked up for aeration. Temp is about 80ºF. Any do's or don'ts or problems with this setup?
