I just recently bought two bichirs from Toyin - an endlicheri and a P. bichir bichir. Both are in the 13-15" range... Added them to my 330g and they've been fighting quite a bit. The bichir bichir, slightly larger of the two, is doing a lot of snapping and clamping on the endli's fins and tail... I'm well-versed when it comes to aggression between cichlids, dats, etc... But not with bichirs. So I'm not sure how serious to take the fighting that's going on at this point. If anyone here has experience and can offer advice, I'd appreciate it. I'm obviously hoping to hear that this is normal and that they should work out their differences in time. The tank is certainly large enough and there are a few very large pieces of driftwood to offer hiding spots.

i would try keeping them seperated for awhile, but other than that i duno.

Are they well fed?

I've only had them about a week, and they were just introduced to the tank today. They will certainly be well fed. The bichir bichir is eating more voraciously as of now. The endli timid around food, but is eating.

just give it some time, aggression can and will be normal to some extent, but if one is totally tearing the other apart I would move the aggressor.
You should post some pics I dont think any of us can ever see to many pbb pics

Thanks... I'll leave them be for now, but keep an eye on them.

I second what he said. It's kind of normal for WC fish to fight to determine hierarchy. Check out my palmas fighting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RS5fucDi2lo&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Hi normal territorial disputes.
Once the PBB has proved his dominance, it should calm down.
I have owned 10 PBB, 6 wild, and 4 CB. It was the WC that showed the aggression.

Separating them is pointless, as when you return them the PBB will have to prove dominance again to a fish he thinks is new.
