Polypterus endlicheri

just got a Polypterus endlicheri. Does any one know how big they usually get? and is there a better solution then feeding it feeders?

i have had all my bichirs accept just about anything.. raw shrimp.. shrimp pellets.. frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp.. I have a tiny one 3" comin tomorrow night..They get big man I believe around 30" and members on here have them 24-25" ones that I know of. HOw big is the one you got?

Hes about 12"

actually the two big ones i saw recently were congicus but I know people have some 18-20 inch

mine eats beefheart, but then again, all my fish eats beefheart. I buy them by the pound at the latino supermarket. cheapest there, only 0.80 cents a pound. I stock it in my freezer. I try to give my fish some dried krill too, and pellets. No more feeders here.

Never new what beeheart was. Do u cook it, or give just raw and serve it to the fish? and is a actual heart from a cow or something?

i got 2 of these beautiful bichirs and i feed them shrimp, beefheart, mussles and anchovies.. they are very easy to take off live feeders so you don't have to worry about that.. they grow to about 30" from what i read but the biggest one that i've seen personally is about 22" from tip to tip.. mine are about 16" and 10"
