Polypterus ID help. Senegalus?

Background info:
I purchased two (last two in the tank) of these guys from PetSmart a while back (mid Feb.). Both had sunken bellies, but their coloring (olive) was very different from the senegalus I had purchased from a different PetSmart (very grey colored, not olive). I had a breeder net full of baby guppies, so I bought both, brought them home and kept them in with the guppies until there weren't any guppies left.

Are these just nicely colored senegalus or are they something else?

I think its just nice colors.... I went through the stickies on the forum, but the colors just seem off to be anything but a Senegal... hopefully someone else will put in their 2 cents

its definitly senegalus...but...can you tell me whats wrong with his spine?

Wrong with his spine? Are your referring to the curve up to his head? If so, it likes to sit in one place and look around with it's head up like that. It's posture, not a permanent curve.

I think he's refering to the spot halfway through the bichir. I think it's actually a piece of shrimp or fish floating just above it.

Yeah, the spot is just a dirty spot on the exterior of the tank.

Looks like a sen x palmas sp hybrid, theres another one in a thread from a week or two ago

should be a normal sen.. lol.. at 1st look tot that the sen has some spinal defect..
but after a good 2nd inspection... its only a water droplet at the exterior of the tank.. lol..

Well, whatever he is, he's awesome! This tank has been rebuilt with bichers in mind, so it doesn't really matter to me.
