I just bought 2 baby polypterus. One is a beautiful endlicheri that still has its external gills. The other, Im not so sure. They're both 3" long and eat well. I found them both in the same aquarium full of endlicheris at an LFS. I bought the other one because it had a different pattern, looked cool and was cheaper than the rest. At first I thought it was an ornate until I got home and got to look at it better. It doesn't seem to resemble any of the more commonly sold polypterus species. It has irregular marks(?) near its tail fin, has a longer upper jaw, and is covered by grey spots on the dorsal side. The LFS didn't know what is was either but they know what the endlichers were and referred to them as giant bichir, hence the higher price. I need help identifying it. Sorry I can't get better pictures, it keeps swimming at night and hidden the rest of the day. Thanks! :D

reduced pattern CB delhezi.

Thanks guys! But someone already answered my other thread about him. :)) Is his reduced pattern cause by too much captive breeding? They sell them for just 2$ and I think I saw a platinum florida gar at that shop too being sold for around 20$.

yeah being mass bred is usually why it gets like that not always but most of the times on CBs

Im not sure tho. It was in a 100+ gallon bare bottom tank with several other gar. It was really shiny and silver. I'll try to take a pic just to confirm if it is one haha. That would be cool.
