How high can they jump? Does anybody know?

I have a few small in an open top tank (old pic, trimac is gone...):

and was wondering IF i would add some of my bigger ones to the tank how low i should keep the water level from the top edge?
5"? more?

i would cover it if possible i lost a couple of ropefish 2 jumping out a while back and ive seen bichirs jump pretty high

i had one a polli jumpi measured it the best i could approx.1 1/2 feet vertically and roughly 3 feet thru the air.-Anne

that body starting just behind the gills is roughly 7/8 muscle

The 4 inchers will soon be big enough to jump out of that tank. I would find a way to cover it.

I had a foot long ropefish jump out of a container I had it in (I was moving it) and it had a 6" clearance between the water line and the lip of the container.

Not a good idea to leave the tank uncover. I lost a number of bichirs due to jumping out of tank. Best if you can fully cover it with a heavy cover as mesh cover is not able to hold them in. :)
