Hello! Since last night the following is happening. My polypterus endlicheri is jumping out of water for some reason and has done it enough times to think that it is not a normal behaviour. He is 20 cm, in a 350 litres grow-out plastic tank by himself. Water parameters are fine 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 20-30 nitrates.

Has anyone witnessed anything like this before?

Are you sure it's not just surfacing for a gulp of air?

Yes one time i saw it. It jumped for sure.
I was hearing splashes all night and at the beginning i thought it was the arowana. But in the morning i realized it was the polypterus.

Make sure all openings are covered the Endlicheri may be trying to escape. Have you noticed any other tankmates harassing it?

Oh ok got confused when you mentioned the Aro. Did you check the temperature of the aquarium? Hopefully there is nothing electrical going on. Unplug the heater and pumps for a few minutes and observe the Endli's behavior.

no heater in the tank... temperature at 27 celcius.... only a pump in the tank (and an air pump which cannot cause electrical problem))

Polypterus will go wild now and again, just keep an eye out for any injuries or other odd behaviour. If just jumping I think you're okay.

Ok maybe the Endlicheri is just entertaining itself or trying to escape like I stated earlier.
