Hello,

my dealer is planning (more in the meaning of "realizing") a new import from Kamerun.
He got offered two species, which are mostly uncommon for him:

Polypterus bichir bichir and Polypterus lapradei sp. logone

I hope he will get some pics ...

Does anybody know about the Polypterus lapradei sp. logone?

Thanks a lot ...

Greetings

Uwe

Polypterus lapradei sp. logone = Polypterus lapradei from the logone region of cameroon-Anne

Hello Anne,

thanks a lot for your answer ... i had forgotten to write about the river in Cameroon where these fish are living. Sorry!
I'm a bit astonished about this habitat of P.bichir bichir - maybe a mistake by the crew in Cameroon?
I hope i will get pics soon.
Do you know something about the colouration of the Lapradei of this habitat?

Thanks a lot

Uwe

I would call dibs on that P. bichir bichir if I where you.

I agree!!

Hello,

first - thanks Anne, that you will look around for informations about this Lapradei sp. logone ...

I think i will buy the P.bichir bichir - and the Lapradei sp. logone if he will fit in the tank. The logone was described as XXL ...

Greetings

Uwe

me too. i know theres a paper that says that there's bichir bichir in logone and chari, as well as lapradei, and because both subspecies are said to be there, i also wonder about the possibility of a mis-ID. i would have to see pics first to be convinced.

hopefully you can get some pics soon :)

as for lapradei in this region, no i haven't come across anything that would indicate what they look like, or how much different they would look compared to the Nigerian lapradei.
