Polypterus mating?

Is there such thing as a breeding season for polypterus? At what time of the year do they usually start spawning?
I am asking this because these guys are all flexing like crazy:
2x Polli males at 2x Polli females
1x Lapradei male at 1x Lapradei female
2x Senegalus males, no sen females in the tank.
1x Congicus male, no congi female in the tank.

Any explanations? The past week I have started to feed much more shrimp than i usually do, so they are all extra beefy. Could that be a part of the reason?

Ive read somewhere that changing up stuff inside the aquarium can cause them to try to mate. I dont know if thats true or not but i have noticed it with my male and female sen. After switching out the sand one time they were both showing signs of mating. Never had it be successful yet.
