All, I've bought this as a Mokelembembe, but could it be identified by you as such? Have no better film/photo material available right now with my current phone cam...

Thanks in advance!

Video is a bit dark, but it looks to be a retropinnis, not a moke.
Do you have another link?

Lol thanks Hao I couldn't get use the link for some reason. Anyway yeah it looks likes either retro or polli. I tried to stop it throughout the video to look at head shaper but I just couldn't make anything out. If you have another video of maybe it staying still and could get a head shot of it that'd be better. Another way to tell if it's a retropinnis is to look at it's eyes when it's sitting still and if there are dots all around his eyes then it's a retro.

How slow does a moke grow and how big?
It depends on circumstances (water changes, feeding, etc..,) but if all those are good they most say they grow really slow while other say they've grow relatively fast. Mine actually grew pretty fast in a 4-5 period. He grew about 1-2" which doesn't seem like a lot but for a slow growing fish thats a good growth rate. As far size they get about 10" they are one of the smallest species of polypterus.

Looks like a retropinnis to me; it's pretty slender to be a moke and there is a stark contrast between the pale belly and dark back. Mokes don't have that contrast.

Thanks for the replies,

after the hollidays I will try to get a better picture, my phonecamera is crappy :p. The mouth and eyes both have a dotted pattern, is that Retro-specific Dr. B or is there still a chance it is another species?
