Hello Everyone! I found the African pike characin in a list of a online shop.. And i wonder if it's a good idea or not to house it in my tank.
I have an 180x40-45(hight)x50 to 70 (width) cm tank. it's like 450-500 liters, i think.
Inside i will keep my two ornates bichir.
Reading online.. i saw different opinions about the size of the hepsetus in aquarium. They say it can be up to 70 cm long for 4 kg weight, but fishbase says that it grows more likely to 40 cm.
In the second case, maybe it's ok for my tank, otherwise i think not.
What do you guys think?
Have anyone kept this fish, and maybe with polys and can suggest me if take them or not?

I have an odoe pike in with my two polys as of right now with no issue. Odoe stays up top, polys on the bottom. Mine is pushing 10 inches right now...I've never heard of an odoe getting as big as the size you quoted.

Should be ok together.

Agreed with both previous posts.Odoes don't usually bother anything that they cannot eat and I have never heard of one passing the twelve inch mark.

+1, mine even leaves the smaller clown loaches alone, they school with him lol.

Awersome! :) What do you think about the tank? it's not huge but.. it's ok for them even when they're adults?

Odoes will need a 6ft long tank as an adult. They dart across for food. The tank you have should be fine for life. The odoe will get 12-14 inches. The ornate will get 18-24 CB and 26 if Wc. So far doing good.
