what is the appropriate tank for 2 Ornate polypterus, I am thinking of buying some.
Is is a good idea to buy online, if there arent any pet stores that have them instock?

a good tank for CB ornates can be a 120 gallon for life while a 150 gallon for a pair of WC ornates. there are some nice places to buy bichirs online such as jurrasic Aquatics or from rehoboth aquatics.

ornates are IMO the most aggresive of all bichirs so i would choose one.

research but generally quite expensive. maybe 750 to 1000 bux for a NEW entire setup plus stand. I would buy used.

My female ornate (13") is a pushover, often getting bullied by male senegal (7"). It's all luck when it comes down to how aggressive yours might be. A 150 (6x1.5x2.5ft) gallon is no better than a 125(6x1.5x1.6ft) gallon for polys, as they need a larger tank footprint rather than a deep tank. All they are gonna do is either sit in one place or swim against one side of the tank.
