Hi all,

I am trying to decide on which way to go with my tank its a 6x2x2 with a 42x18x15 sump will also have a eheim 2028 running as well.

So far I have my little polypterus ornatipinnis 3" ish

First I was decided on an oscar/JD and a few other polyps but am a little worried about the oscar out growing the polyp quickly.

I have seen some of you guys/gals with different dats with your polyp's and am thinking this maybe a good way to go.

So with growth rates do you think I would be better going oscar and jd with a shoal of sd's and a couple more polyp's ?

or

a few dats and poylp's with a shoal of something ?

any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated :O)

Few dats and more polys and tinfoils go well,if your planning an upgrade in the future an Asian arowana but will live in your tank for quite a few years like mine does.

Also I wouldn't put an Oscar with polys as they are likely to outcompete them for food,i know people have but I think don't think its the best combo, also gars go well with polys too,not sure how they are with tinfoils though,

I am liking the idea of your first suggestion. What size tank would a Asian arrowana need in a few years ?
Plus do you know any where for me to order one and some data ?

I bought mine at around 17" about 4 years ago and now he's 22" and he's been I'm my 6x2x2 all the time but I'm putting him in an 8x2.5x2.5 but a 7 x2.5 would be ok for many years, obviously the bigger the better.
I don't really know where you would get one other than Aquaristclassifieds or pm T1karmann on here he may know where to get one, they are out there, but do cost a bit too.

Steve

Depends on the size of aro really,I've got.an.8" IT in with my RTG and.he doesn't bother him or the polypterus, but when he was around19" he killed a 7" IT but that was more to do with the dat getting a bit too cocky and kept having little nips at the aro, eventually he had enough and had a go back.
You should be able to find.an RTG or the more expensive varieties from a good lfs but will have to order in,or look for UK posters in the aro forum

Thanks mate for the info I found a site selling rtg at 4"-6" for £350 does that sound like a good price ?
Also if I was to get an RTG at 4-6" what size dats would be best to get ?
