hi!
i have 3 polypterus senegalus in my 500 liter tank, i saw that the male is following the female and vibrates against eachother in the plants. i looked closely and i found some eggs. not many, but 3-4...

how often do they breed?
should i put the 2 spawning senegals, or all 3 in a separate tank or not ?

unfortunately i dont have an empty tank, but i have a little plastic "tank", it holds 5 liters. should i let them breed in the plants, then put the plants in a separate tank with some oxygen-pumps?

its the only thing i could do right now...

The eggs are very small and they spawn in the plants with small numbers each day. A guy in my club puts them outside in his pond for the summer and they spawned pretty much all summer and he just brought the live plants and fry in, in late summer and let them hatch and hide in them. I would probably just put your pair in with some Java moss or najas grass. He did have major problems with the fry eating each other as well as some dragonfly larvae eating them too. Def check out your plants for dragonfly larvae. They did eat baby brine shrimp and whiteworms shortly after hatching and they grow pretty quick. hope this helps
