Yesterday I traded in 2 senegalis, an oscar, and 2 rope/reedfish for a 7" BGK.

He is currently in a 29 gallon with 2 green terrors, 2 flag prochilodus, a festae and a goldie pleco.

But when he hits about 10-12" I wanted to add him in with my polypterus.
Has anyone ever kept a BGK with polypterus?

I know every fish has it's own personalities. I hear both good and bad things about them but have never owned one. And with him eating bloodworms right out of my hands and also eating shrimp almost immediately after I added him I think I'm hooked!

I used to keep them together with no problem. My bgk was about 14in and I kept it with a 10in delhezi, 12in ornate, and 8in sengalus with no issues. I have since sold all of my polys though.

That's good to hear.
I'm worried about my endli in my avatar. He will eat anything that fits in his mouth.
That's him after he ate a 3-4" oscar.

I just am worried that when my endli gets 20" he might still eat a full grown BGK.
Oh whats an average size of a full grown BGK?

i have a six inch BGK with a 10 inch Palmas right now, doing great

i've kept both in the same tank before, just make sure every guy has it's own hiding spot.

Not sure what the average size of an adult bgk is. The one I lost was about 16in (Monsterous) and my current one is close to 12in.

They seem to get along. I've kept that combo a few times. I'm thinking of moving my current BGK into my Poly tank.

yeah im planning on keeping my bgk with 2 senegals, and i think the max size for a bgk in 20in so i would think he would be fine with the endli just make sure the bgk is the same size or a little bigger than the endli when you put them together

Cool.
I figured I was safe but I hear some of them can be a pain.
The only thing is I need reassurance from someone that has some adult sized lower jaws so I know what I will be in for in the long haul.
My endlicheri's seem to want to eat even if I'm not feeding them. If I miss a day or am just a little bit late with a meal they will try and eat something in my tank that they have let stay in there for a few weeks(attempted a goldie pleco and ropefish and a successful oscar and silver dat).

should be fine
