I was thinking about keeping a polypterus with big cichlids. I want a senegal. The fish ill keep with him are:

Texas cichlid
Green Terror
Jack dempsey
Salvini

Filtration will be a fluval fx5 and a emp400

Can it be done?

i dont have the tank setup because i need to make space in my home. I only have the jack dempsey in a 55g. All the fish will be bought at roughly the same size. Maybe around 1-1.5inch. I can use spare rocks from my mbuna tank to create caves. Also ill use driftwood to aid in the abundance of caves in the tank.

how big is the JD? and make sure the polypterus senegalus has some where to hide like a PVC tube which u can get at lowes. :)

The jack dempsey is around 2inches. He is living behind a divider in my 55g with my mbuna tank. I dont have anywhere else to put him. Anyway so if i buy the pve pipe could i bury a part of it in my substrate to hide it a bit.

Also when all my fish get older do you think they will live together in relative peace?

The bichir will do fine. If you don't like the look of pvc pipe just try some driftwood. I'm more worried about the cichlids fighting when they grow up and fighting for territory. JD and GT can become really aggressive toward each other. You may add more cichlids in there to spread out the aggression and to prevent one fish from continues harassment.
