Hi all!
I've just upgraded my tank to a 130 gal. (check out my post)
It's currently stocked with:
P. ornatipinnis ~ 23"
P. nigricans ~ 10"
P. weeksi ~ 11"
P. retropinnis ~ 10"
Ctenopoma acutirostre ~ 8"

The fish all do very well together and have very few conflictes with one another as I have ample space and "territories" for them.

I've been thinking of adding tankmates and I currently have a Silver Datnoid that is only about 4" and I'm hoping to grow him up and let him join the big boys (several years down the line).

My LFS has a large "royal clown knife" they called it and it is beautiful at about 10" or so. I was wondering how it may fair in my tank and if it is worth the purchase - they offered him at $15 to clear him out! Let me know if you've had experience with CK and polys together. I love my bichir+1 tank and would hate to add somebody that would harm my polys or change the vibe.

My grand plan is to have around a 200 gal when I can own my own home but until then, 130 is about all I get away with...plus a 30, 55, and 10 gal tank next to it!

best,
-B

I've never had any Polypterus's but I've read online that they are compatible and make good tankmates

Also the royal clown knife wouldn't harm any of the polys, their pretty timid unless they're in with other knife fish, then they can be pretty aggressive, especially against their own kind

Yes you can keep them together, I have four Sens with a African Brown Knife and he holds his own. A Clown Knife can definitely hold his on considering the fact that they get huge, I'm pretty sure Hao has a 14in Clown Knife.
