Or could it be the pond armor, which I doubt.

Fish of all species show breeding behavior, just no breeding.

Maybe They just didn't like the change?

What did you use to coat it? Things like concrete and/or grout will change pH if not treated first.

Also, expanded polystyrene (styrofoam) is a proven endocrine disruptor (Source 1, 2, 3, 4). This doesn't necessarily show up immediately, instead in later generations, as it has more effect during certain life stages (birth control is a controlled endocrine disruptor). This however, this could also be a possibility . Unless you're using a flow-through system, constantly flushing the chemicals out, the leachates could build up, especially if water changes aren't done frequently. If using XPS, seal it completely, so that water contact is minimal to non-existant.

Take that info as you choose; obviously numerous people still use it with no visual effects (not a great defense for it though).

Thank you. Interesting articles. After reading them, I suspect styrene even more.

I used pond armor to coat. But there are areas that are not covered.

350 gal build. Fish look very happy.

No worries. A lot of people just skip the sources, so kudos to you for actually reading them haha.

P.S. Not sure why my last reply was double posted; let alone 42 minutes apart haha.

Maybe carbon would help? There was a time that I complained that I had too many different fish breeding at the same time. My tank was a spawning war zone!

ro water to 75 gal holding tank, to aquarium throuh sump, to yard, roses etc.

I add RO right. At times I add a pillow case full of peat to the sump

I push 75 gal through 3x per week, but I will often leave it drip for a week or more. 50 gal per day.

Here is a link to my set up.
