I built a plywood tank and used stain and polyuretahne to seal put in an acrylic window filled with water and my window leaked ok i busted out the window but the question being will polyurethane stand up to saltwater or evev freshwater im considering replacing the window with glass (i scratched up the acrylic pretty good) i may even just go buy a tank and scrap it ....any way to buff out and clean glue off acrylic ?

The tank is about 70 gallons has a seven foot back and a 4 foot front with 45 degree angles down the sides (pinhole leaks down the sides )

what a nightmare design to hold water (silly me) sorry no pics at the moment.

What kind of glue are you talking about? Silicon and anything similar should be cleanable via good old fashion scraping with a blade. Scratching up the panel should be okay because its a good idea to sand where the glue will be making contact anyways as most of those adhesives have difficulty bonding to acrylic.

But even if you scratched it more in on the viewing area, acrylic is easy to buff out. Look for acrylic repair kits. I have used powered buffing wheels with success before too, though its more tricky as the potential to melt or burn the plastic exists.
