Hi all,
Went into my local fish store and looked at a a nice selection of fancy goldfish. One of them was a so-called pom pom goldfish, which did have nasal bouquets looking like "pom poms" - hence the name.
Anyway to cut the long story short that poor bugger was chewing off one of its own pom poms. You could see that the loose fleshy outgrowth on one side was already falling apart and the tissue which connects the nostril with the nasal bouquet was a bit stretched out. The fish kept sucking the ball into its mouth....
It was a very sad sight
and I hope the fish will not suffer for too much longer.... Is this a very common behaviour for this sort of goldfish?
