Just wondering what everyone uses for combating algae in their pond do you use chemicals, uv, barley or something else?

If you are talking about the free floating (green water kind), there are a number of ways including the barley straw, UV light, etc methods.
I use a DIY foam fractionator, that removes any free floating algae along with suspended dirt particles., and even some parasitic phages, and also provides biofiltration.

If you mean Green water Algae, I recommend the use of plants like Duckweed, which block out the sun, and Anacharis, which competes with Algae.
