Pond Canister filter?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Usually pond filters aren't the best for tanks because they are pump fed not gravity fed. You would be better off running a UV unit in a sump.

Aw, gottcha, for some reason I was thinking it had a pump built into it.

Should work fairly well (with the right filter materials) if you have the pump for it, atleast it won't overflow :D .

My pond filter overlflows all the time :( I guess it depends on the way your run it. Does the canister seal? If it does than a really strong pump will do i then.

the size of the aquarium and you would have to figure out how to put carbon in the filter itself. Ive got two running my 8x8 ft pond. I have two pumps running about 1k gallons per hour. i dont use carbon so I dont worry about it and the ponds stays very clear. They both have UV units on each pond filter so it wrks well. it would be rather intrusive in an aquarium but if you can place the pumps well out of the way or figure a way of hiding them and using carbon if you do....say good bye to regular aquarium filters.

Who's needing carbon? But if you do, an inlne carbon cartridge would do it.

Run hoses from & to the tank and put the pump (self-priming) & filter elsewhere (under the stand).

The only pressure think I saw was for when it gets cleaned. When my filter gets gunked up on thes spray bar it has a lot of backpressure. I just did not know if the top made a water tight seal or not. Just looking out for him, don't want you to have water get pumped all over your living room. :)

DrJoe is right, who needs carbon? Purigen!

Thanks for the input everyone :)
