pond cichlids

has anybody had any luck keeping reddevils in a pond.Could i see some pics

pond would have to be about 2ft deep and you'ld have to bring them in in the winter unless it has a deeper whole about 8ft.

i did that last week, i put a juvenile red devil in my pond filled with minnows, goldfish, and shrimp that i feed my larger cichlids. he should do pretty good in there

What kind of goldfish? Fancy orandas or are you talking koi? Also doesn't the the RD mess with the goldfish? Just curious.

No one would put orandas in a pond lol. probably comets, shubunkins, or sarasas.

I have heard of lots of cichlids ponds in florida! Any thing south of tampa you pond only need to me 3ft deep. So i have heard. I am going to try it this winter with some africans. I have a Red devil and some convicts that might also try it. Let me know how it works for you.

I have two Geo Rhabotus in a pond with a D. Comp, and rhino pleco. Hopefully we dont get any freezes.

yeah tampa down stays prety warm compared to other areas so it is easier to have a shollow pond yr round.

the goldfish were comets, and for the most part he eats the tons of minnows i caight and threw in from the canal near my house

I have several clients with Orandas in their pond. I care for one that is over 10 years old and the size of a football.

i know someone with a 2.5ft deep pond with a bunch of ryukins and comets and 2 velvet oscars...the ryukin and comet count is decreaseing quick though...but its a pretty nuts pond to have outside near his deck.
