I wondered if anyone has used an external pond filter for thier aquarium. I plan on using one from doctor fosters and smith for my 280 gallon iam going to build to house my florida gar, jardini arowana, clown knife fish, royal pleco, and merodnotontus tigrinus. The filter will circulate the tank 8.5 times in an hour. also some times our power goes out in the winter, so i need a way to keep my tanks heated... I was thinking about getting a battery backup for computers, and set it up to turn on when the power goes out so my fish have heat. Any info or advice will be a ppreciated thanks

I have used a 60 liter (16 gallons) pond filter for a 325 liter (86 gallons) aquarium for a while.
I did it because of little room when I moved and the aquarium was heavy stocked.
Worked just fine, but then I had put in much more small bioballs than it had originally.

It's always bigger the better isn't it?
