I have never use this media before. i was planning plumb this filter up for my aquarium. Will bio media grow on this type of media?

Are the rings smooth or rough. some times bio media has trouble getting started in something to smooth.

the plastic media has a semi smooth surface. It's said to filter 1000 gallons.

Beneficial Bacteria grow on anything with a rough surface. Make sure it has a lot of surface area as well.
