looking online at filters, looks like you can get pond filters cheeper than aquarium filters and they have a better flow rate. They look pretty much like large canister filters. Anyone every use one of these pond filters on their aquariums? Do you think it would be a good idea to run a pond filter indoors?

Any filter would work provided you have good filtration media. However i think pond filters might be abit loud for indoor use but dont take my word for it as i have never used pond filters indoor before.

Using a pond filter for aquarium should be okay. It's just like a wet & Dry. if you have the space for it, go for it.

I dont think he is talking about those sump filtrations. If im not he is refering to those that pump water into a cannister for filtration. Something like those Eheim makes.

The thing with pond filters is that usually you got a pump in the water forcing the it into the filter and then returning it to the pond by gravity.

how you would fix that problem, i dont know.

with our monsters i would imagine that the pump would need frequent cleaning and get gummed up after a heavy feeding.

eh problem solved, I decided to use a large household water filter, and convert it into a filter for my new indoor pond. Hooked up a 1000 gph pump to it and put 3 stages of filtration on the inside of it. Thanks for the replies though.
