Pond filters for a tank?

My lfs is having an end of season pond filter sale and theyre all like 50% offand I was wondering if I could use it for a tank?

1. The flows too strong
2. If like the bio media will be interchangeable

There are many different kinds and size of pond filter. Which one are you refering to? Canister, in-pond, skimmer, bead.......
