pond filters on aquariums

I don't hear much about it, but pond filters are so much cheaper than aquarium filters. Why don't people use pond filters instead? Are they not to be trusted?

Bead filters made for ponds work great on large aquariums. They can be backflushed for super easy cleaning. I think they are great. Like this system, would be great on 800+gals.

Most pond filters don't have UV built-in and UV doesn't kill the good bacteria because it is firmly attached to the bio-media in the filter...Not sure what stuuf is. :D

Most pond filters are not made to filter to such a fine degree as aquarium filters, but you can add different filter material and will need to be clean more frequently than per instructions.

Bead filters are great but you need alot of water to backwash them properly.
