Pond filters on aquariums?

Can you do this? Seems like a silly question when I say it in my head but that would monstrous filtration on my 150! Thanks in advance

I've heard of this being done wouldn't be much different then a fish tank filter but the media.

Yeah iv used a massive oase 15000 pressurised pond filter with a laguna maxflo 11000 pump on one of my tanks and it worked well

Yes you can, but as stated above it's basically the same thing. I really don't even consider the media different, it's basically a sponge and some biomedia.
I bring one in from the pond during the winter and and put it in a sump, and run it just to keep it seasoned.
But it really doesn't perform any different or better than anything else.

In my mind, a pond filter is simply a big aquarium filter. Not a lot of us have aquariums as big as ponds, but if you look at the set ups of the people that do many are using pond type filters. Media is media to me. If it holds BB it is good.
 
Bump. Do you have any pic of your Oase 15000 setup? I planned to use my Ecostar 1000 and use gravity to let it drain back into the tank.
