I want to make a filter for my 80 gallon container pond. How would I do that?
What would I use? I have a homemade filter in the pond already but it needs replacing.
I'd like to get more ideas on how make one. Right now I've got a plastic basket with a pump and lava rocks somewhat covering the pump. I can't remember what kind of pump I have. I've had it for so long that I can't remember. Any ideas or suddestions would be appreciated.

container pond??? go with a HOB. or if its in the ground (wich i have a feeling it is) try an inpond box filter. im running one right now in my pond and its crystal (ok maybe shotglass) clear.

:iagree:

Put your pump in a plastic shoe box drill holes (a bunch) in the top and a hole for the pump outlet, put the lava rock in the bottom and put Poly-fil batting on top. Put the lid on and you have a in-pond box filter. I left the lava rock in to hold it down, if you do this don't let the rock dry out ..it has useful biologicals in / on it already.

Good Luck,

Dr Joe

my ponds 1200 gal. works great. mine measures 15" x 20" x 6" and keeps the pond clean and clear, with everyotherday filter cleanings....no biggie.
